About the Perkins Coie Art Collection: The art holdings in Perkins Coie’s Seattle office formally became a collection in the 1980s and 1990s as a result of the connoisseurship of former partner Chuck Katz. For two decades, he and the partnership acquired bold and timely pieces of contemporary American art from across the country; collected intriguing historical works by European, Asian and indigenous artists; and made prescient acquisitions of work by then-fledgling Northwest artists. Describing this endeavor in 1989, Mr. Katz wrote: “The firm is a collection of individuals, staff and lawyers, who apply their intelligence and skill to solve problems. Hoping that our art will reflect the intellectual quality of our work, we have sought what is intellectually stimulating as well as visually interesting.”
