COVID-19 Resources
As our global community comes together to fight COVID-19, Washington Lawyers for the Arts (WLA) is committed to providing ongoing support of the work of artists and arts organizations, whose efforts enrich the quality of life in Washington State. WLA will continue offering legal services, including legal advice and legal education, to support Washington’s arts community, while doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by offering these services virtually.
WLA Clinics
WLA will continue to offer legal clinics for artists and arts professionals to meet with attorneys to discuss their legal issues. Each appointment lasts 30 minutes. The clinics are intended to address matters related to art, entertainment, and intellectual property law, as well as arts-related business issues. Seattle University School of Law clinics will be held via phone. WLA’s monthly clinic will continue to be held virtually, during the third week of the month. For more information, and to request a 30-minute appointment, please CLICK HERE.
REFERRALS
WLA will continue to offer attorney referrals for artists and arts organizations seeking legal advice beyond a 30-minute appointment at one of our legal clinics. Fee arrangements are left to each client and attorney and might range from free services to reduced fees to full-fee representation depending on the financial resources of the artist or organization and the attorney’s wishes.
Please request a referral here.
workshops
WLA is developing its online programming of Arts Legal Workshops for artists and attorneys. Each workshop will feature a legal expert providing an in-depth look at a legal issue relevant to artists and arts organizations. More details to follow.
If you have a suggestion for a workshop topic, please email your idea to info@thewla.org.
